Use Triggers to Manage Your Emotions

Here it is 6:00 AM on Monday morning and I'm pounding this out on the laptop while listening to the Rocky soundtrack on ITunes.

Which is the reason I'm writing today...

You see...I couldn't sleep worth anything last night. Tossed and turned between 11-2. Wide awake between 2-4. Finally slept from 4:00-5:30. That's not normal for me.

And of course, when the alarm clock went off at 5:30, I felt like I just got hit by a MAC truck.

But after about five minutes of feeling sorry for myself, I realized that I needed to change my physical and emotional state.... which is exactly why I'm listening to music from Rocky.

It might sound simple, but music is one of the most effective strategies for reaching the emotional and physical states you want.

I often listen to music from Rocky when I need to be pumped up.

When I need to chill out... Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet are the order of the day. Marley's 'Stir it up' is played almost every Saturday while I'm making breakfast and chilling with my soon-to-be wife. After a week of intense work, that particular song helps me be who I want to be at that moment.

What about you?

What music pumps you up?

What music chills you out?

Music is a highly effective way to manage our emotional states to get the results we want.

Put it to work!
